2x12 Speaker Decision

I've been looking at getting a 2x12 Swanson cab for my Edana. I considered an Avatar 4x12 with G12H30s, but after seeing the Swansons I think a matching cab would look much better, besides, I really dont like the look of the standard Avatar 4x12.

One of the downfalls to getting this 2x12 is that I dont know if It will push as much air as I'd like and get a wide LOUD sound. With the right speakers and a closed back, would it?

Im trying to choose between different Weber CERAMICS. That being any combination of Silver Bell, Blue Dog, or 1230. (Two Silver Bells, a Silver Bell and a Blue Dog, 2 1230s, 1 1230 and 1 Silver Bell... etc. etc.) Personally Im thinking anything might work, but im leaning towards either 2 Silver Bells or 1 Silver and one Blue. Or should I go with ballsier 1230s to compensate for the loss of 2 other speakers? I dont know....

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Alex

No matter if you go 2x12 or 4x12 I'd go with Celetions...that amp will sound amazing with Celestions and IMO it deserves them! A 2x12 box is plenty IMO but I will admit that NOTHING sounds as rich and full as a Marshall head on a 4x12 cab! If you go 2x12 I'd go with one Vintage 30 or a Greenback and one G12H30 and if you go 4x12 I'd go with 2 vintage 30 or 2 Greenbacks and 2 G12H30's. I happen to like the 25 watt Greenbacks in a closed back cab but a lot of guys disagree. I would not use ALL greenbacks because alone they can become a bit muddy but 2 of them with 2 G12H30's would be a big...I mean BIG sound.

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

Should I just suck up the look, save money, and go with an Avatar 4x12 with Celestions?
I was under the impression that there wasn't a great difference between those Webers and the Celestions considering the Webers are just recreations of the Celestions?
I would love some gold piping and a basketweave or salt and pepper grill on a 4x12, but I'm not gonna pay 300 more bucks to find a custom job.

Ermm, any other options?

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

I run a V30 paired with a EVM 12L in my Marshall 2x12 and it sounds very, very big.

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

I can get those Mojo speakers for a great price. I'd be happy to pass them on to you at my cost. Just PM me and tell me if you want them. They make a v30, a G12H30 and a greenback. I dig the heck out of them.\

Oh and Fed Ex tells me the amp should be here tomorrow, but they said that on Thu and then on Friday. :(

Bogner 2X12 with one V30 and one 12/75. That is the ticket IMO.

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

Is Swanson the guy who makes Scott's cabs? If so, I'd order an empty 2-12 or 4-12 that matches the head perfectly. I'm assuming you could also have the Celtic logo on it?

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

You've got the Mojo headbox, so I'd go with the matching Mojo 4x12 & Mojo British Vintage "Greenback"s & 12H30s in an X.

Celtic badge on front, of course!!!:beerchug:

Yep thats what I'm thinking Terry. I've considered it even more now that Scotts helping me out with those prices.
That cab would look PERFECT with my head.

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

The THD 2x12 cab is nice, too, if you're looking for a big sound in a compact package.

Re: 2x12 Speaker Decision

check out this website. I just ordered a cab from them, but I've never actually heard one so I can't tell you yay or nay. The reviewers on this site had nothing but glowing things to say about them.
