I tried to do a little audio comparison with my new handheld recorder. The amp wasn't set very loud. Sorry about the sloppy playing.

Wow, I have 2 of those (the Maxon and the the Xotic). They are so very different, you really cannot have a shoot out between them. And you really need to get out of Soundclick's horrible mp3 streams and get into SoundCloud with a download option for the wav files, so we can listen with some actual resolution.

Well, based on these clips, and played on my crappy 'real world' speaker refs ... the Maxon was the winner in warmth, but I really like the glassy/transparent thing the Fryette had going on, too. The BB is a strange beast; it takes a LOT of tweaking to get just the right tone out of it ...

The Fryette sounded thinner/shriller than the other two to me. Pretty sure I liked the Maxon best as well. The BB's tone did'nt quite click, but I thought it sounded better than the Fryette (Not that that sounded bad...just comparatively.)

I don't think it's fair to do an overdrive shoot out into an amp that's set that low - most overdrives are designed to work in conjunction with the amp, not do all the heavy lifting on their own.

The Fryette Boostassio is nice clean boost, push your amp more and thicken it up some

I don't think so. Gearjoneser spoke quite highly of the centaur when we met up though, made it sound like the be-all-end-all of ODs.

I never heard yours, but I owned both pedals. I really regret trading the Klon for a Swart Atomic - both because I should have either kept the Klon or the Atomic. Darned good stuff that I couldn't appreciate at the time. Post a link and I'll check out your audio.

Definately all sound better now. I still prefer the Maxon for being a touch warmer/darker. But the Fryette sounds pretty impressive too, very detailed and texured, not thin anymore. The BB sounds pretty nice as well.
