3 Pup Combination

Im preparing to order parts for my next build an all mahogany 335/339 style guitar with an ebony fretboard, i was going to use an sh-11 and either a sh-2 or alnico 2 pro in the neck but cant decide on a middle position pickup.

im open to any suggestions, i play a unique power blues, sort of like dan auerbach from the black keys, i play through a vox ac15c1

any help is greatly appreciated.

A Phat Cat in the Middle is a nice sound. Get the Neck version I find that pickups designed for the neck tend to play better in the middle position.

Hah! I love the A2P and SH-11 combo in a semi-hollow! I almost wanna go buy an Epi Sheraton right now JUST to throw those pickups in it.

no reason why not to go with two A2P's and then a SH-11. I'm sure another A2P would balance really well with the whole thing.

+1 on the phat cat! sounds MUCH better then a humbucker in the middle (and looks better with the pole pieces in the middle of the pickup) theres so many ways you could wire it up too! i have mine wired with a push/push pot to turn on/off the middle pickup any time in any position.
phat cats come with A2s too so you could have a killer A2 guitar! or you could experiment with mag swaps, i put 2 A5s in mine. it was brighter and tighter and matched my other 2 (A5) pickups better. its all trial and error.

yeah, im a huge fan of alnico 2 magnets, the phat cat sounds like it might be the way to go, now, should i wire it using a freeway switch from stew mac? a lot of people hav bad things to say about it but i have one in the les paul i made last year and it works great.. maybe i got lucky? i dont know, thanks for the help guys.
