30 watts or less tube amp reccomendations?

I'm in the market for a 30 watt or less tube amp, and I've played all the ones at my local guitar shops. I was wondering if there were any out there that people though I should search out before I make my final commitment.

Amps I've already tried:
Crate Vintage Club 30
Peavey Classic 30
Fender Blues Jr. (favorite so far)

Surprisingly, excluding the pro jr., those amps are the only 30 watt or less tube amps that my local shops carry. So, anything I need to check out before committing to the Blues jr.?

Check out Komet's Constelation 30. Also THD Univalve or BiValve...

Re: 30 watts or less tube amp reccomendations?

How about those Traynor and Ashdown amps?

Don't know where you are in NY but if you can get to Queens check out the Music Zoo www.themusiczoo.com he usually has a few different options. He has the smaller Goldtones, Oranges, and some cool SS units from Lace as well. The store is well worth a trip if it isn't too far for you, the guitars alone will make you drool.

I live in westchester, so queens is only about an hour from me. Am I missing something, or is there nothing on that site besides the front page with the picture of that guy at the football game?

Try a Mesa SubWay Rocket Reverb. 20 watts of great tone. And its VERY loud for 20 watts.

Re: 30 watts or less tube amp reccomendations?

I should have added that I'm not planning on spending any more than $500...

For under $500 I really think you should look at the Peavey Classic line, I like the Delta Blues a whole lot, regardless of price. The Crate Vintage Club line is damn good too in that price range.

I used to have a Mesa Subway Rocket Reverb. Very cool amp. Great cleans, and a nice vintage distortion.

Depending on what sort of sound you want, I really like the sound of the Marshall JTM30 combos. They have a nice clean sound (especially good imo for a Marshall) and have a vintage sounding distortion channel that can really get quite dirty when you crank it.

Just my opinion :)

15 watts or less = 1950's Supro
22 watts = Dr.Z Z28

I saw one of these: www.fargenamps.com/new mini plex.htm go for a litle over $500 on ebay the other day. New they go for around $900 but if your in no hurry check the gear pages classifieds and HC and you may get lucky. I have been gassing for this amp for months now...

uhhhhhhhh oh god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap, holy holy crap, I had no idea marshall even made a JTM 30 combo, oh man oh man oh man. I can't find it listed on the Marshall site, is it called something different? I found 2 ebay auctions that had been going for 2 days, both only at $150, oh man if this amp retails for anywhere around $500 I'm going to cum all over and simeltaneously beat the managers of local shops for not stocking it.

[edit] Damnit, after calling about 10 guitar shops, I managed to figure out that they were discontinued in around 2001 and sold for between $500-600. I also learned most guitar shop workers are idiots and don't understand the concept of a reissue, and told me that the JTM 45 was from the 60's, even when I asked about a JTM 30 reissue :smack:

So anyway, I take it you own one Brow, am I correct? Could you possibly give a more in depth synopsis of the JTM 30, both clean and distorted, and possibly post some clips? I'm almost tempted to buy one off of ebay without hearing it, but my jew-instincts just won't let me.

Thanks again for any help,
Jacob
