Of course, if the tone control only affects the bridge and middle pup it is technically not a "master tone". But why don't you want the tone pot to also be connected to the neck pup?

If, you may need a different type of switch to keep the tone pot off of the neck pup.

actually, upon opening the guitar, it has a regular CRL type 5-way... And yes, I want tone one all EXCEPT the neck.

Be aware that the electrons don't know where they're supposed to go. In other words, if your tone control was only connected to the middle, and you select M+N, the tone control will still affect the neck pup.
