50's diner style LP!

Re: 50's diner style LP!

All I know is I LIKE IT!

Re: 50's diner style LP!

It's a Catalina. Basically a limited edition that Gibson made for 2-3 years in a few colors

That's what I thought, but the guy in the store says it's a pre-Catalina model and it's not chambered (as Cartalinas were)...does have an ebony board though, 57 Classics and 50s neck. Mmm.

how would he know if it was chambered without takin the top off?

i wish there were more weird colored gibsons out there.

Re: 50's diner style LP!

Well, I don't think it is a Catalina as it doesn't gave the right headstock inlay or tuners. I'd post a pic but I'm having a hard time finding one. Edit: found a pic of the red one.

It does look like a Catalina in regards to the pickguard and color (though the color may be a little off when you look at this: http://www.elderly.com/items/30U-8919.htm). I've always loved the Catalinas. One of the few red guitars I actually lust for. If I were rich I'd have one of each color. But the blue color is my favorite. If it is a real gibson I'd snatch it up at that prices... assuming it plays and sounds good.

It's real - that shop is very big and is a major UK dealer for many big brands, and they do a lot of Custom Shop stuff. It is a very good price for a Custom Shop model, but then all their second hand stuff is surprisingly reasonable.

I am very tempted - I have yet to replace my last LP and this one is pushing all the right buttons...

Re: 50's diner style LP!

I bought an Epi studio LP in that exact color years ago....shoulda kept it, the color is too f'ing koolness. Perfect pinup girlie!

Lake Placid blue!! A Les Paul with a vintage Strat look!
Not my thing, but kinda cool.

Took X rays? Drilled holes in it and hit air in the middle? Tapped on it and listened for the "resonant harmonic overtones"?
