i know that someone has told me this before, but i loose the information
is there any tips on how to place the knobs on my 5150 ?
also, should i set the cab/head to 16 or 4 ohms? which one will do the trick better?!

i will use the Lead channel...
and, another doubt... whats the use for the Normal gain input and for the high gain input? how should i use them?

Re: 5150 Ideal Record/playing Settings?!

I prefer 16 ohms, but make sure they match. It doesn't affect the tone that much.

High gain input

Gain at 4
Bass at 6
Mids at 3
Treb at 4.5
Resonance at 6
Presence at 5-6

Tubescreamer infront with:

Gain at 3
Tone at 4
Level at 5

LOL, true.

If the amp has passive EQ, I would start by diming them, then work your way from there.

You really do that way? I usually always start with all knobs about 9 o´clock, then I take them up one at a time until I feel a nice bump and it doesn't sound like too much. After I've done this I do it again but try it a bit down and up with all the controls one at a time again. I've found it works quite surprisingly well with most of the amps I've tried.

Whats that Passive EQ?
don´t know man, sorry.
it has 2 inputs to plug the guitar jack IN.
the HIgh Gain INput, and the Normal Gain input. i didn´t notice a difference.
yes, i noticed.. an output and smoothness difference. but .. is that true or its just my ears?!

Re: 5150 Ideal Record/playing Settings?!

My ears are Not Used to tube amps Yet
Q:/
i´m trying to Get used to the Glassy sound of teh tubes. i wanted a more Fat/compressed Sound. the amp tuned IN E its pretty bright, yet raw and rebelious. ahahaha
i want to smooth it up a Little. and fatten the overal sound a bit, i mean.. To get that COmpressed sound .
the only pedal i have here is the SD-1 japanese from 80´s Boss.
and i think it will not smooth out anything. ahahahaah
i also see that i´ll need fat Humbuckers ahahahahaha
So, evo 2 bridge/Paf Pro Neck, or even the air norton neck for the new ibanez. i´ll drop it to C or C#.
and, i´ll use a set of bare knuckles(no money yet) on my charvel.

Well, my thinking is that the less resistance you have on the signal, the better. There's no hard and fast rule, of course, but I prefer the sound of passive EQs opened wide, and then adjusted to taste.

Re: 5150 Ideal Record/playing Settings?!

i also have an issue that i´m playing in a not properly room, and it can be very bright and reflexive.
don´t know how to explain my bedroom in english. should i try to do it in portuguese? ahahahahaha !!!!
also, today, i just put some 5 Mattress ahahahah on the walls of my bedroom and on the window.. but it didn´t help

the settings on the high gain input and lead channel was :
Bass 4, middles 4, highs 5, resonance and presence at 5 each , and pre gain on 5, post gain on 3,5.

Re: 5150 Ideal Record/playing Settings?!

ok, and the otehr question that you didn´t answer guys...

Why plug the guitar(currently, i have all guitar with passive pickups. )
on high or normal gain input?!?!
what is the purpose of each input?

Re: 5150 Ideal Record/playing Settings?!

I think the SD-1 in front is great... similiar t o a Tubescreamer, just different clipping stage (afaik)
With the SD-1 the sound should be compressed enough...

5150 has passive EQ
