5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Hi Guys,

Some guys have been asking for paf pro clips so here's one I did.

It's pretty bad cover of Unchained by Van Halen (I should take some time to learn all of it). There are lotas mistakes and I screwed up the merge at the start, Damn backing tracks :smack:.

Having said that, I really enjoyed my first foray into home recording and I've been learning as much as I can when time permits.

I used Cakewalk pro audio 9, Sony ECM 21 mic 5150 head and cab, Ibanez RG570, Paf pro's & a cheapo Arion analog delay.

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Hi guys,

I was jamming on this tune at band practice and I was given a few 'opinions' on the accuraccy...... lol.

I realised the riff in the verse is wrong along with the chorus, breakdown, ending, etc etc. I was playing behind the beat on this. I think it really needs to be driven by the guitar.

Anyway, I'll do a revised version shortly.

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Thanks alot guys,

Also thanks Rid, I really enjoy listening to your clips so your input is especially highly regarded.

I guess this was more of a 'check out my tone' than my playing. Not withstanding the fact I butchered one of VH's finest :), it's always nice to get feedback from muso's outside your usual group.

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Thx Twilight:D

I guess you could see the track as, "imagine a bad cover band where the guitarist is struggeling (but you forgive em' because it's a VH cover:D) and comes good in the bits they kinda know.

I'll leave it up for a little while longer before I get off my ass and record one with a stronger, tighter feel that doesn't drag it's ass in the verse:D:D.

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Wow I could get that VH-vibe from my Paf Pro neck, but yours sounds way fatter, makes me consider the 5150 again hehe. Thanks for the clip bro, it was way cool!

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Thx guys,

I really like the 5150's tone but the I'm not a fan of that buzzy preamp distortion tone.

My 5150's got balanced and graded JJ tubes which I reckon make a difference. I also used the normal gain imput jack because it takes some of the buzz and the analog delay also takes some buzz so it sounds reasonably full.

I'm going to try a breed neck in the bridge and see how it sounds. It's around 11k so it's around 3k hotter than the paf pro and supposedly very similar.

Re: 5150 & Paf Pro clip Unchained

Great tone Inter, I really like the 5150 distorted tone.

Don't worry about the execution, the bar was high (actually, for me, the bar is so high it's a freakin' dash :) ). Few people here and anywhere else can claim they nail VH stuff. You really have the right vibe.

Keep on posting, that's the name of the game here, sharing our stuff.
