If you dig 'em, why change 'em? They should be just fine for what you've mentioned. If you need a bit hotter sound out of the bridge, try a 57+.

All-mahogany body construction!

If you think that your guitar might benefit from a little added sizzle, try an SHPG-1n Pearly Gates (covered). My gut instinct for the bridge PU would be to go for something with a ceramic magnet, more drive and plenty of top end such as the SH-5 Custom.

On second thoughts, if I were seventeen years old and I owned a Gibson '68 Reissue LP Custom, I would probably leave it tf alone.

Do you want something out of your guitar that it's not giving you? Describing that quality is very important; it's probably a waste to go trying pickups at random.

57' Classics sound killer...the only thing that I would consider is putting a 57' Classic + in the bridge for a little more beef! Had a set in my LP Studio, loved 'em.

If you love 'em, why change 'em? Adjust the screw poles and pickup height and you can get them to sound even sweeter. The '57 Classic Plus is a great bridge pickup if you want a little more output there.

"57 Classics are great pickups. I have a 57 in the neck of a LP Classic...great tone and response. I agree that a '57+ or a Pearly Gates in the bridge would be terrific. You've got a great guitar with great pickups, keep it that way if you already like it. If you want to do some tinkering, get a decent Epi LP and experiment with different pickups. You can get lots of suggestions and help in this forum.

Put your parents on line for a minute. We need to talk to them.

Seriously - leave it alone. Not only do you love them, but not caring about it is the punkest thing you could do.

true true
you do have a point there.
besides im not actually gonna change them, i just wanted to see what other options are there. the only option is keepin them.
when i get another LP in the future then yes i will change them.

Re: 57' Classics on a LP + lookin for new pups

Those are amongst the Gibson pickups that I have a hard time changing out for Duncans. Especially the 57 Classic neck, which is beautiful sounding.

If you ever want to stay with Gibsons, but want a bit more balls out of the bridge, go for the most perfect Gibson combo, the same one they use in the new LP Traditional Pro, the Burstbucker 3/57 Classic N.
That LP is so dialed in, pickupwise, that I think it's the best Gibson combo.

Spec-wise, the Seth Lover set is the Duncan equivalent of the 57 Classics.

For your guitar, you might want to try a Custom 5/57 Classic N. I know for a fact that set will sound killer.

I had an original '68 custom (black with gold trim) back in the day. Loved that guitar. Sold it for $300 when I got out of music 35 years ago. Yeh, go ahead and kick me, I'm already numb from kicking myself.

I have a Gibson 359 which has stock 57 Classic's. In this guitar (which is a laminated maple body, Mahogany neck, ebony FB). In this guitar these pickups sing beautifully!

No 'probably' about it. The most wasteful & frustrating thing you can do is to randomly buy PU's. Lots of sad stories of guys here of guys that have spent many hundreds of dollars, and still never got the tones they were looking for.
