Hello tone seekers, Have any of you ever tried the Custom Hybrid in the neck position of your guitar?...les paul/sg

A related question: why do the most popular neck pick ups have a scooped midrange eq profile?

Have a cool day

Yes, I have tried a 59/C in the neck with an A8 59/C in the bridge and they sound wonderful.

As to the most popular neck pickups being scooped, I don't much care for them, but if you think about how scooped a Strat is and how much people love their neck tones, you can see why. As for me, I like all my humbuckers to have nice strong mids to them.

Hybrids are $$ for neck position because they give you nice mids and complexity to make the neck cut more.

Thanks, Im going to pull the trigger and put a Custom Hybrid in the neck position of my Les Paul build.

I always thought that was the general Duncan approach to neck pickups to counter the usual muddiness that can come from the neck position.

I'm not sure how the Alnico 2 Pro is, but even other Alnico 2 offerings like the PG neck and Phat Cat neck I've tried have been pretty wide-sounding as far as EQ goes.
