'59/JB in a strat with 250k pots; what say ye?

Hey guys,
Thinking of doing an Am Std strat as an H/H with a '59 neck and JB bridge, two vols and a tone, 3 way with a coil split. Question is, in a brighter guitar like a strat (generally), do you do 250k pots with the A5 '59 and JB, do you go 500k, or do you do 500k and swap the A5 for A2?

I don't have much experience with the 59, but I have the JB/Jazz in 2 of my strats, both with 250k pots. I love em..

I had the lil 59 neck and jb bridge in a mahogany tele. Went 250k. It's perfect!

I refuse to use a JB with 500k pots. Too bright, thin and nasal. I would also not want to use a '59 with 250k's, since they are warm enough with 500k's.

I say use what sounds best to you, however, depending on what you're looking for, you can switch in a 470k/560k load resistor in some positions in parallel with a 500k volume pot so that in some positions the pickups see 250k and in other's see 500k.

My ASAT Deluxe has the '59n and the TB-4, with 250k pots. I like the tones from this guitar. They are nice and thick, but they still have enough bite. What's not to love?

Not a fan of the JB/59 combo. Since the JB doesn't have much bass, I turn it up on my amp. But the 59 neck is naturally boomy, so frequently an amp setting for bridge does not work for neck and vice versa.

That's pretty interesting. I have a Jazz neck lying around, and I know it was suggested to try that instead of a 59' N; think that'd cure what you're referring to?

+1 I second this. The Jazz(n)is a better match to the JB tonaly then a 59n IMO.

IMO, the '59 is a horrible neck pup. Especially paired with a bright bridge pup like a JB. Like was suggested, a Jazz is a better option...easier to EQ the amp for both pups.
