59 mounting legs too deep >.<

This is the first time I've ever encountered this with any pickup. I bought a duncan 59 bridge humbucker with the nickle cover. I opened up my strat and lo and behold, the mounting legs goes down way too deep. I compared this with my other duncan pickups and for some reasons, this duncan had mounting legs that went down an extra 1/8 " farther than my other pickups.

Is this a production fluke? All my other Seymour Duncans and off brands don't have the mounting legs go down this far. Why does this particular 59 have mounting legs that go down so deep.

Sigh anyways, it looks like I just wasted about $80 on a pickup that I can't even use now.

The 59 is a "vintage-correct" design, and thus, has the longer legs. Its real simple to mod, however. Just take a pair of pliers and bend the little tabs back and forth until it breaks off. Then carefully, grasp about 10mm of whats left, and gently bend it over to make a new tab. You'll need to drill and tap a new screw hole. Its a little bit of work, but nothing you can't handle.

You could also do what I did, chisel out enough wood to make 'em fit. Just don't go thru the back side!
