'59 n or P-Rails n with a SH-5 bridge?

So the vintage metal guy in me says '59 in the neck for my mahogany flying V but not having a single P90 pickup whatsoever I'm wondering how a P-Rails would be in the neck. Bridge PUP is going to be a SH-5, style/tone will be generally in the Black Sabbath area. Will the P-Rails be too sludgy? I need something that can sound somewhat bright as the guitar will be in C# standard. Thanks

Wire the P-Rail into a Triple Shot ring. One of those switch settings should be bright enough. I'm guessing parallel.

Wish I could say from experience. But I've seen enough posts by others on P-Rails added to my own experiences with Triple Shots, to make a fairly educated guess.
I'd put my money on the thing being run in parallel, because that's the brighter of the full humbucking settings. Either the P-90 or the Rail should be bright enough if hum isn't an issue.

I would think a P-Rail in the neck of a mahogany V would be great as it is. Especially tuned low. Buy the pickup before you buy the ring, and see if you need the ring after all. I bet it would sound great either way.
