59 neck good for metal?

I'm looking for a neck pup for my Ibanez RG 7621. Because it's a 7 string my options are a little limited. Currently it has an Air Norton which I don't care for. I'm looking at the '59 or the Distortion for the neck position. ANybody like it for metal. I noticed Michael Amott has it in the neck of his guitars.
