'59 Neck PUP replacement sits way too high - Epi LP BB

I've resurrected my guitar rebuild from a few years back and have finally gotten back around to replacing the PUPs in my Epi Les Paul Custom Black Beauty. To go with the Franken-Frampton rewiring (middle PUP wired straight to a dedicated volume pot, neck/bridge pups share a tone pot and have their own dedicated volume pots), I've got a '59 slotted in at the neck, JB in the bridge, and a GFS Dream 90 in the middle.

Now, other than my brutally-bad soldering skills, the main problem that I've bumped into is that I can't lower the '59 enough. Period. I retained the stock neck ring, dropped it in, and reinstalled it into the body. It adjusts freely and doesn't seem to bind at all, but setting it at full depth before it slips off the adjustor screws nets a PUP height that is noticeably higher than the 22nd fret. (See attached) It's just way off.

Now, I'm fully aware that the answer here might just be a forehead-slapping "Get longer adjustor screws.", but before I go there, are there other possibilities at play here? Wrong PUP in the wrong position?

If not, what is the gauge/thread pitch I'm looking for? Is there a good source online?

Thanks in advance.

You need longer screws.

Or a less thick mounting ring.

Or both.

If the pup rout is deep enough to lower the pup as far as you need it, then certainly longer screws is THE answer. But if the rout isn't deep enough you may need to replace the base plate with one that has short legs (I'm assuming that your 59 has long legs).

Longer screws or shorter rings. That would be your easiest solutions.

Thanks for the replies. Can anyone suggest a thinner PUP ring? The stock Epi neck ring looks to be about as thin as they come on allparts.

If the pickup sat at the same level as the ring, then you should have no issue.

Remove the 2 height adjust screws as it sits now, and see how far down into the cavity it can go.

It does seem to be able to drop lower into the cavity. I'll see how long of a screw I can source, and try that.
