59 pickup magnet change

Re: 59 pickup magnet change

Hi,

Based on feedback in the forum I’ve decided to try changing magnets in my heritage h150 Les Paul.

I’m more after a vintage tone with less bass. More into blues than rock. I actually don’t mind the bridge, quite nice. Neck has too much bass for me.

I have an a2 and a3 in order which should I first place in each position? :-)
Thinking of leaving the 5 in the bridge

I would try the A3 first. I like this very much in the neck of a 59, or any pickup that needs a little less bass and a little more high end clarity.
It's a nice middle of the road selection between A5 and A2. My ear can perieve the A2 as muddy in some guitars, in others just fine, but I tend to like a bit more 'sparkle'. I've recently made that same change in another brand of bucker from A2 to A3 and it opened up the tone nicely.

I also like the A3 59 I use in the neck of my Ron Wood ESP. Matched with a tele lil59 bridge it's a great setup.

Good luck!
