'59 set, tuned in Open C, what mag?

I have been experimenting a bit with magnets in the '59 set install on my Epiphone.

I was quite Epi with the A4 neck and A5 bridge until I decided to change the tuning from standard E, to Standard C (I am now on open C). Somehow, the A, A5 combination didn't cut it as well.

I have at the moment an A3 in the neck and an A8 in the bridge (kind of both extremity of the spectre) and on their own, I am not convinced, the only sound I kind of dig is with both pups out of phase... but I get bored fairly quickly actually. I am having a bit of hard time to get some dynamic out the pups... Then I realise that a '59 set might not be the best pups for a down tuned guitar but that's all I have... I actually have the 490R and 498T from the Studio but I doubt it could help... Or maybe the 490R in the bridge position???

I was thinking about going back to A4 for the neck, and put an A2 in the bridge. I have an A2, an A4, couples of A5 and 2 Ceramic mags laying around, what would you go for? The LP is not particularly dark.

I would still go with an A5 in the bridge, as it's going to have a tighter sound than AII, especially in C tuning.

It has been said that A8 can take away some dynamics... but I don't agree... may depend on wind and all. I have a 22K bridge pickup with A8 that is VERY dynamic. I do agree A8 can be too rich at times... a little too complex lol.

True, I might go for 2no A4 actually, to avoid proceedings to get too bassy. Hopefully I'll find sometime today to operate... and produce a wee review in the following weeks !? It is not like I am managing too often these days :(
