59/Stag Mag demo

Peaveyologist
I think I've pretty much got my Peavey Predator and Patriot set up where I'm going to leave them. At least for awhile.

Predator: 59n/59b
Patriot: 59n/Stag Mag bridge

So here's a real simple clip of how they both sound. Its a dirt simple chord progression. If anyone wants, I can post a "lead" comparison. Although, my leads aren't that great. This is recorded through my J-Station with the cab simulator turned off, so you can just hear the pickups themselves. (I did adjust the EQ, but it stays the same for all samples.)

59 / Stag Mag demo (128kbps) (approx. 3.5 Mb)

59 / Stag Mag demo (320kbps) (approx. 8.5 Mb)

I still may need to tweak the height and pole pieces of the Patriot. Its 59n seems to be a bit lower output. But that could be other factors too.

Re: 59/Stag Mag demo

Artie,
cool

sounds great

they both retained sparkle and string articulation ... sounds like you had fresh strings - I'll have to remember that! I'm not sure how much of the articulation is due to the amp, though, since I haven't used my POD to do clips ... I just mic the room!

I also liked your idea of noting your tone - that's something I should incorporate for my pickup samples, since it's hard to tell where I switch positions - even for me!

good job .... I don't remember what you said about the previous pickups before, but I'm guessing you're happy with the tone?

and of course, we'd like to hear em cranked a little on some leads :)

enjoy that ax!
