59 Trembucker Help with 3 screw pickguard.

Hey guys, I just bought a 59 Trembucker and I was planning to use it with my strat pickguard that has 3 holes for the humbucker mounting.

Unfortunately, what I thought were 3 mounting holes on either side of the pickup are what seems to be just one centered and and 2 holes without threads on either side of the centered one.

I do not want to drill a new hole in the pickguard. Is there any way to thread these?

They do not seem to just have wax covering the threads and I've driven myself crazy trying to put the screws in that came with the pickup.

I've never heard fo a Strat pickguard with three mounting holes. If you're refering to the pickups legs then all you have to do is put the screws through the mounting holes in the guard and then screw them into the center holes in the legs. I find that it's sometimes easier to start the screws by threading them through the backside of the legs first, then mounting them normaly.

Yeah man, this pickguard has 3 holes for the humbucker and the humbucker looked like it would work. Just take a look at this:

But the holes on the outside are not threaded. I've tried going from the backside. I've tried scraping the wax out of the threads with a pin, but, there are no threads on the outer holes. Is this a mistake? Why would those holes be there if they weren't supposed to be used?

No. The they are the right size but, without any threads so the screw won't pass through.

Re: 59 Trembucker Help with 3 screw pickguard.

If the center holes are tapped why not mark them out on the pickguard and drill them?

Re: 59 Trembucker Help with 3 screw pickguard.

If I had waited one more day to order the pickguard I could have avoided this. I'm just going to sell the pickguard on ebay, take a hit, and get a new pickguard.

What color is the guard? I've got a white one and a tortoise one that are used but in great shape.

You are the man but, I already ordered a new one! Thank you very much for your generosity.
