59BJ and 59NL

so... snagged these today for $75 off of craigslist. Seems like a fair deal but I did end up spending 1.5hrs in traffice due to some type of crash (here's to everyone being ok). got em home and they read correct at 8.26 and 7.6. as I understand the L is for a Linda? and the J is from ? I love that it ends up being 'BJ'... then again I'm juvenile.
It'll be a while before I can hear 'em but stoked... almost natural antiquities eh? What year did they stop using this naming convention?

Re: 59BJ and 59NL

Congrats great deal! L stands for Lidia and J for the famous Maricela Juarez, who is now head of the Custom Shop aka MJ. Your Pickups were made between 1988 and probably 1997.

That 59B has the big logo stamped into the baseplate so that makes it a little earlier than the 59N which has the smaller logo.

Lidia... ah. and Maricela. cool. trying to decide if it's worth the risk to convert to 4 conductor. I don't know if the older seymours are like the newer where the coils are individually wrapped and all 4 wires have a thicker extension wire sitting outside the wrap?

I noticed that as well. they are both in 'old' shape but that one has seen some active duty!

thank you for your responses gentlemen!

You can convert them to 4 conductor if you want, and I think it's an option as well if you order new ones.

i see that they offer them new.. .just figured this way they are kind of antiquities! and as it turns out custom shop! (I know, I know). it'll be a while before I build a guitar for them so I have time to decide. Might just leave em as is. certain beauty to simplicity I spose.

Nice score. The classic Duncan set. Enjoy.
thank you!

Yep, i missed that. The Big logo without the MiA was made between 1983 and 1988.
