59's in an Agile AL 2800

I just picked up a matched set of 59's to go into my Agile Les Paul copy.
I'm going from very hot pups. My Agile is solid mahogany with a maple cap and a maple neck/rosewood fretboard.

Anyone have a similar setup? How do you like the 59's. I play mostly blues and classic rock style tunes.

Thanks for any input.

59's work well in almost all guitars and are extremely versitle pickups. There are not many pickups that do classic rock and blues better.

Thanks Mr. Heavy Duty, I just wired in the bridge pup last night. I'll have to wait until this weekend to wire in the neck. My first brief test run of the bridge confirms what you say. I believe this is exactly the sound I was hoping for. I'm anxious to put them to the test this weekend.

Hi Curto,

I have a '59 set in a semi-hollow body guitar ('335 clone) and it is still my favorite set-up as far as classic rock tones go. They are quite versatile and just sound sweet in a semi-hollow. I'd expect them to be a little more boomy (especially the neck) in a solid-body but IMO they will sound great for what you are looking for. People often overlook that combo... have fun!

The '59 is a great pickup! I have a Jazz the neck of my Paul because I find the '59 a little too boomy in the neck. The Jazz has an acceptable amount of "boom" for me. Some players really love the '59 in the neck though!

I did install the neck pup the other night, and it is a little boomy on the low E string. Still not as boomy as what I had in there. I like it much better when overdriven than my old pickups. Overall both pickups offer more clarity and that classic LP crunch I was hoping for.

I'll be keeping em.
