I have lots of 6L6's and 5881's for low headroom and smooth breakup, but I need a set of 6L6's for high headroom. I want a tight bottom and and a good but not bighting treble. What do you guys suggest?

7581s are super heavy duty military versions of the 6L6. Better lows and high end response than any current production tube in my opinion and you need to run them at an insane volumes to make them break up.
try www.kcanostubes.com
They run $90 a pair but you won't have to replace them for YEARS (expected life is close to 100,000 hours).

I'd go with phillips, they tend to be a little warmer
