proxy New member Oct 31, 2005 #1 Can anyone describe the major tonal difference between the too? Given often they are in entirely different amps, when you hear 30 watt 6V6 certain tones come to mind opposed to when you hear 30 watt EL84.

V Vasshu the humanoid typhoon Unseen Oct 31, 2005 #2 Re: 6V6 vs EL84 I usually see the 6V6 as a small bottle 6L6, it has many of the same tonal charateristica, the EL84 is a small EL34, same funny compression and smooth od when pushed in the right setup. To me the EL84 plays abit louder.
