So, I'm getting the itch for a 7 string. I had a slew of them over the years: Schecter C7+, RG7620, UV777BK, LTD H-207 and a few others.

Of the best ones out of the bunch the low B always seemed a little, well, flabby. So, I'm thinking if I go with one then I'm going to want one with a Baritone length to it.

The ESP LTD Stephen Carpenter 7 has a Baritone model, which I dig. I like the set neck, the bridge and the general look, but I'm not really wild about the EMGs.

Does anyone else make a 7 string Baritone?

Re: 7 String Baritones

If you want a low B that isn't flabby, you could always just use an .070 or some such. :D

Re: 7 String Baritones

Most, if not all, of the Schecter 7 strings are 26.5" scale.
If you're not into EMG's I'd say check out the BlackJack 7's.(c-7 and 007[which i think is discontinued])

Schecter Blackjack or Ibanez RG1077XL sounds perfect ;).

There's no way in hell I'll own a 7 string with a Floyd ever again. I hated them with 6 strings....with 7 it just got worse. RG7620, UV777BK...the best thing I did to them was stuff blocks of wood into the term cavity to lock it down...and even then something about it bothered me.

Something about the Schecters puts me off. I had a C7+ that was a great axe, but if I'm going to go with another 7 string, and realistically one I'll probably hang onto for a LONG time, I think I want to go with something a little different.

Re: 7 String Baritones

Ah ok. Well, the actives on the SC607 blow, they need to be replaced with 707's, IMO.

Other than that, the only hardtail baritones are the Schecters, or the rare Ibanez RG7421XL. :(

The 7421's are bolt-on....not a huge fan of those for this kind of guitar for me.

Last thing I want to do with a new axe is HAVE to swap pickups out though...

Bah....

Re: 7 String Baritones

Well, aside from the Schecters, you're really screwed looking for a baritone 7 string hardtail. :(.

I wish there was more market for them, so that there'd be more variety.

Agile makes one, Schecter makes one, Warmoth makes parts for one..... ;)

But if you want a hardtail the Agile is out...

I don't want to do a bolt-on. so the Warmoth is out...

Re: 7 String Baritones

Well, that essentially leaves you with:

Schecter
Jackson Custom Shop
ESP Custom Shop
Another Custom Shop

Re: 7 String Baritones

I played a few Jackson 7 strings....

God-awful idea of that headstock angle for the low "B."

Well, Jackson offers 5 headstock styles (if you include the Charvel CS with Stratheads), on a CS order nobody is forcing you to go with a reverse pointy...though I personally LOVE the reverse pointy for a seven, tightens up the response of the B string quite a bit.

Re: 7 String Baritones

Yeah you should definitely check out eaeolian's Jacksons over at sevenstring.org, they're freaking ridiculous.
