'73 Fender P-Bass pickup, one half dead

Fender Precision Bass split single coil pickup with original black plastic covers, marked 1973 on undersides of gray flatwork. Has been in the family since the '70's. It belonged to my late father.

One of the halves reads 5.5 KOhm +/-. But there is no reading from the other side, so I am assuming the winding is broken somewhere in the coil. Lindy Fralin can rewind the broken side to match the other side for $50.

There are no leads or any other parts present. It is just the two half pickups with covers.

Before you write off your pickup, check the strands of copper between each coil and its soldering eyelets. There may be a simple break in this area.
