The "t-top" version (which you probably have) are wound about the same as the original PAF - I say about because Gibson has always been consistantly-inconsistant with their humbuckers - but the PAFs generally use an AlNiCo II magnet in them versus the AlNiCo V in the t-top. They do sound a LOT better without the covers though.
