Wire is gone, you have to use quik connect. I messed up. Pickups are still useable, if you're more of an expert than I am (which you no doubt are) you can benefit from my loss.

Do you think the PU's are defective? Where Kac? Maybe he knows more?, Cause I'm interested.

They're not defective, at least I hope. A person on ss.org told me to snip the wire, so I snipped it, just too close. And I'm not cool enough or whatever **** to insulate it.

how much wire remains? Post some a pic?

I can get you a crappy cam pick.

--- or half your thumbnail remains, of which some wire is exposed already.

um....how much was there to start? cuase if the image im gettin im head is correct. it looks like you cut the entire thing off.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

You are correct. I still have the rest of the wire. He sent like all of the wire. He did nothing wrong.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

So if we have a guitar wired with quick connects already these should plug in no problem correct?

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

Yes, thats correct, but if I get the gist of things, the wire is cut off short, and they must be touching, cause he getting hum. I think if one could isolate the ground from hot, they'd be fine, but is there enough wire to do that?

Did he clip the metal connector prongs or the quick connect wiring? If he clipped the prongs that pup is FUBAR

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

...what a shame... I love my damm Blackouts too.

I hope you haven't given up on them... They're great sounding pups... You'd be so happy with 'em...

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

You can always put quick-connect ends on wires inside your guitar and hook it up that way.

You're correct on the first part, no clue on the second part, and there was --- wire left, now that it's stripped, half of that. In other words, half your thumbnail remains.

Which is why I'm selling--I am no expert in pickup or pickup changes, if anyone is more experienced me (most people) they will snap it up for cheap and huge bargain'D.

I put the BO neck back in my bridge, I'm playing it through the hums.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

how bout some pics? so we can see exactly what we are dealing with.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

Here's a thought . . . send them to me. If wire can be put back on, I can do it. I can't imagine it being more than a $20 plus shipping. How far away do you live?

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

I'm still at a loss as to what exactly is wrong with it. Is it as simple as buying a new Quick Connect Cable? They cost $6 a piece if that is the case. If that's the case I would buy it since I already have the wiring in my guitar.

This sounds reasonable. I will see what SD says, then most likely do do this.

Okay, here's sup. See, I had EMG's in guitars already. I wanted to switch them with Blackouts. IN ADDITION to having the EMG clip system built in, they also have the regular pickup cable (to solder). Now, into an Ibanez (whose cavity is pretty small), Kac sent me BRAND SPANKIN' NEW Blackouts (or close to, like I said this is NOT HIS FAULT) whose cable obv wouldn't fit. I was told to snip off the wire, so I snipped it off--without stripping it again to split into wires. The Blackouts NOW CONNECT THROUGH THE QUIKCONNECT SYSTEM LIKE EMG'S.

Now I'm at a point where if I strip it, it'll be the last thing I can do to it. ME. If a more experienced person (ArtieToo?!) can do it, awesome!

Is there any way you can post a pic before you send them. Its still not clear why you wouldn't just get a set of the quick-connects. I'm sure they're a standard connector available from any electronics outlet.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

They cost $6 a piece. Seems like the logical solution and I was wondering why this has gone on this long if this is the case.

Re: 80 bucks + fee + ship gets you my ****ed up Blackouts.

:( Am I being stupid or is it not obvious...

Okay. Let's say you have a pickguard. It has EMG's in it. You unhook the quick connect , right?

( http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/timsguitarworkshop_1990_1187415 <- Image of what you just took out from the EMG's pins )

Now it's just the EMG. You unscrew it, you hold it in your hand. That's it. There's no cables. No nothing, just the pickup.

In the other hand you hold a blackout. You turn it so the names are facing the floor. Where both pickups have a pin, one has a cable--the Blackouts.

THIS IS MY PROBLEM.
