Here ya go Gtrjr…

I made this pickguard from a sheet of lexan last summer, added a custom color DiMarzio DP-159 Evolution... 8-38's in E...
Eric is gonna post pics so hang tight a second...

Re: 87 RG550 RFR

You mean paint the back side so it shows thru as body color? That Road Flare Red is hella faded so Id have a hard time paint matching that...Its such a hard color to photograph and the pickup is actually a pink/yellow zebra which also doesn't show up well. The whole point of the clear guard was to show the guts.

Oh

I figured you just went with whatever material you had, didn't realize it was clear on purpose

Re: 87 RG550 RFR

I have the original black HSH guard but I wanted something different than what was available and what other ppl had.... I made a see thru purple one also which was decent, but not much goes with this color really...

Thanks for the love guys!

Its definitely broken in but it treats me very well so thats all that matters in the end right?

Ps, I got the Lexan from Home Depot.

I screwed the original pickguard onto the Lexan and then traced the shape onto the outer protective film with a fine point marker then removed the pickguard and took a hacksaw blade and my dremel with a cut off wheel to trim it down as far as I could.
Then I reattached the pickguard and used my dremel with a sanding drum to finish it out. I went with a non beveled edge as you can see, and I got my edge nice and crisp by scraping it with a razor blade much as you would when scraping binding...I then very lightly 45’d the edge so it wasn’t sharp. I went around the entire perimeter in one direction to make the biggest passes I could to alleviate drag marks and the blade digging in.

The main reason I made this is because no one offers a single humbucker 1volume clear guard for a reasonable price, so for $20 and about an hour of my time I got exactly what I wanted.
It’s .093” so it was very close to the .090” b/w/b stock guard.
