90% Accurate Prs body from China

Hello guys I finally recieved my Prs guitar body from china

What i can say is that they have scanned a prs and can duplicate it by cnc.

I was very impressed when i received the guitar body.

The only things that aren’t a match are the back cavities and the knob holes.

I wanted it to be a single pickup guitar and i asked them to rout a fender neck pocket.

However they screwed it because they didnt considered the neck scale.

Despite this it wont be an issue because I will rout a neck pickup cavity where the neck pocket sits.

There's no such thing as:

1) a Fender neck pocket - they vary between models
2) a Fender scale - they vary between models

So yeah, they just didn't feel like turning down your money

When someone says fender scale they are referring to 25.5'' that is normal.

The neck pockets are all of similar design aka a rectangle hole.

Re: 90% Accurate Prs body from China

This is a dumb argument and detracts from the OP's post

For the record "Fender scale" is generally regarded as 25.5" in most guitar circles, even if there are real-world instances where Fender guitars have a different scale.

"Fender neck pocket" is a tad more tricky to generalize, but you can put a Strat neck in a Tele heel without issue...the difference between the two is just the shaping of the corners (round on Strat, square on a Tele), but they are dimensionally the same otherwise and the same scale length, so I'm not sure what Adieu's point is

Cool body, OP, hope you get it sorted out!

to me "fender neck pocket" means 2 3/16". whether it's squared off like a tele or rounded like a strat is secondary.

most strat necks have a 7" radius at the heel but I smell what yer steppin' in.

op - it is a fine looking body. the challenge you will have is that there isn't much neck pocket there. you can't rout it deeper because prs dbl cut is generally a 25" scale length. ie shorter... ie the fender neck would need to go further out... and again there isn't much neck pocket there. For a glue in the prs design is already pretty aggressive iow minimum surface area... as a bolt on - I can't see how that would work (not saying it's impossible but imo you need more surface to bolt to if you are going to loose 1/2" due to scale length). I would advise you to consider buying a neck from the same guy... then you might want to buy a straight edge, some long sand paper, and a crowning file... I suspect you will need those :naughty:.

Are you sure they actually put a "Fender" pocket in? Visually, it looks similar to a standard PRS set-neck style rout. Here's a pic from eBay:

Re: 90% Accurate Prs body from China

I was looking
Is it just me
Or is the trem rout offset just a bit

I think it's offset just right. Because of the trem arm position block doesn't center with the neck. Learned that hard way with my build. (Which I have forgotten to update! Pics coming when the paint dries.)

Re: 90% Accurate Prs body from China

90% accurate?!!!

No way! Just the positioning of the pup and bridge rout look about 20% off...too close to the neck rout.

And there's no way you're going to get a pup in the neck rout and be able to keep the neck on the guitar.

Please don't tell us who made this for you, I for one don't want to know.
