Ok guys, started the 90s Les Paul project. Question is... what pickups? Was planning on a Duncan Distortion set. Other ideas???

Unusual looking pickups would be my vote: Dimebucker bridge and Screamin' Demon neck or those Parallel Axis. Cool project!

I'd do a 59 and Custom. Instant 90s crunch tones, right there.

Alice in Chains, Green Day = JB bridge

Soundgarden, Nirvana = Super Distortion

That's pretty cool. Is it difficult to control the flow of the epoxy on a carved top?

I'll throw in another vote for the JB, but the Distortion would be appropriate for several of those CD covers, too.

A George Lynch signature pickup on a 90s guitar?

I said unusual looking pickup. It was released in 1991 anyway.

And Kurt used 70s pickups. But they're boring, right.

It can be tough on really carved guitars, but Les Pauls are ok. Flattop guitars are by far the easiest to get a good finish. Using a guitar with binding is also a must. Strats are a non-option.

Update, I missed out on the 90s Duncan pickups... but scored a DiMarzio Super D/36th Anniversary set for $90 so that's what is going in the guitar. I have a luthier installing bournes pots and new switchcraft switch with the pickups next week.

I built this one to sell, so be on the lookout for a blog entry, quick video and for sale thread.

Nice! I bet those pickups hit the nail on the head in this thing!

I would go with a P-Rails in the bridge. As a humbucker, it has enough kick to play and of the 90's stuff and that P90 tone when you want to kick a bit of Green Day. You even have the rail for the RHCP stuff. A Jazz neck would make a nice companion.

Lovely. Duncan Distortion bridge PRails neck will bruise, will cruise.
