A=440 vs 450, etc.

Hey guys,

Any of you know about big guns strobe tuners? I've always been using the cheapie tuners, but when I got my guitar back from the shop I noticed that the tuning was more sonorous than when I retuned it later. Tuning off the PODXT still sounds good, but I think there must be something to the strobe tuner, or the technique, or something else I'm not thinking about like frequency.

that made no sense to me

A = 440 hz is concert pitch for a guitar to my knowledge

lol - I guess that post shows where my head's at. Okay - So concert tuning's A=440, right? But there's a thing in my POD to raise or lower the base pitch of the tuner. Personally, I would never see a need to change it but it led me to think that there might be more to tuning a guitar well than I thought. For instance, the pros use strobe tuners, right? That's hardcore equipment and obviously it employs some technique to be very accurate, but I'm wondering if there's something to the strobe tuner, or some technique the pros use, that would create a more pleasing sound than what I would get at home? Or is it just that the POD and/or my ears's a crappy tuner? :D
