a/b pedal

i think i need an a/b pedal

i fell in love with my clean tone yesterday, i finally found something that clean, just drops my jaw. Martin d-15, fishman neo-d (insoundhole) pickup, into a crate vc30 tube amp.......turn up the treble (its a martin, and bass heavy), turn up the volume, roll of the bass a bit, and crank the reverb, and its just heavenly

ive been experimenting with a gain setting, but its an acoustic, and feedback prone. ive started using my bd-2 set really lightly for a bit of distortion, and it sounds great

my electric/lead tone comes from a godin sdxt loaded with 59, classicstack, JB, into the vc30. ive been using the distortion channel, and its great.

my problem is that i want to be able to get both tones, or switch between the two. the acoustic on the gain channel is just bad, and the electric on the clean set for acoustic is awful. i just joined a band, and i kinda am gonna need both.

im planning on going up to GC before our first rehearsal to get an AB box, and possibly get a chorus or phaser (for use with my acoustic).....

so what AB box should iget, i need to plug 2 guitars into it, and have it come out with no added noise, and get 1 line out of it, and be able to swich between the two...

Re: a/b pedal

I have a Morley A/B/Y, and that seems fine.
You just something mechanically sound, since it doesn't color the sound.

Re: a/b pedal

As Curly pointed out, The Morley A/B/Y pedal (even tho it says A/B/C on the pedal itself) is a very useful pedal to have ... I have one myself, actually. It runs off of a 9V battery, and in order to swap it out, you have to dismantle the top of the unit, which is held in place with 4 ungainly metal screws ... not something you wanna do at a gig! As long as you keep a fresh battery in it, I 've found the pedal to be a very transparent switcher.

Re: a/b pedal

Morleys pop when switching channels. Sound degradation is another mishap. I'm not recommending a uber-expensive one like Lehle or Framptone, but maybe the Whirlwind would be more up your alley?

That's interesting ... I've never had a problem like this, my Morely has silent switching, in fact, and I'm a certified tone snob.
When did you experience this? Is it your pedal? Maybe it's a lemon?
Hmm ...

I use the Morley as well... They can be noisey at times when switching, but this has not presented a problem for me. The battery change is an issue. The battery only powers the lights, so you know which channel is on. I have added a power supply to mine so I never have to change the battery. I actually pulled one of the wires off when I opened it up for a battery change. It took a while to figure out where to solder it back in. Other than those minor issues I think this is a great A/B pedal. I needed it due to playing through two amps.
