..or Surfers, haven't decided yet. I want a lil humbucker for versatility, but something with punch and single coilish vibe.. Thought of Cool Rails.. Would it do the job well?

cool rails isnt very single coilish... id go for a quarter pounder. Lots of punch but still a true single coil, although it isnt hum cancelling. if you were desperate for a humbucking single coil id go with a hot stack

Qtr Pounder would be an excellent choice.
