EDIT: (everything the same, but the i5 is on a Groove Tubes "The Brick" mic preamp
it goes from Orange channel with guitar's vol rolled back, to full-on Orange, to Red channel, back to Orange, and Red for lead. Squire VM strat with unknown Fender pickups + SSL-3 in the bridge. I used position 2 on the opening, 3 (middle pup) on the next part, and a combination of Middle on the right side and Bridge on the left side for the Red channel double-tracked part. Lead was SSL-3 (bridge) with a TS-808 clone.
Mic: Audix i5
Speaker: Celestion Greenback (V30 not mic'd) in a 2x12 closed cab
If i may self critique, i think you'll agree that the speaker is too new, causing a brittle/tight quality to the sound, and that i5 mic can sound harsh in the high-end sometimes, which is good for the crack on a snaredrum, but not great on some guitar tones. My Groove Tube brick just showed up today and I'm waiting on some cables to plug it in to my interface, so I'm gonna make another clip, I'm not touching my amp settings or mic setup, just gonna plug in the brick and see how different the track sounds in comparison, then go from there. I'm trying to get a good guitar sound in my apartment. I also didn't EQ or add any effects to these clips.
EDIT: F it... I'm just gonna record a DI track and reamp it cuz I'm replacing the Greenback in this cabinet and I'll make some comparison clips of different speakers. But I'll still record a new clip with The Brick on the i5 and post it here.
