A couple of new originals

Haven't posted too much in awhile - started doing a bunch of Truefire courses and that took a bunch of time (along with life in general :0) ).....doing a bit more writing lately and finished up a couple of songs: Stay Weird and Strut. Both are kinda blues funky tunes.

Pardon the slide playing on Stay Weird - just learning how to play but I figure one of the best way to practice is to try to play within a song.

As always its just fun to write and play.

Good stuff! I listed to parts of seven or eight songs. Is that a trio or are you doing all the parts? It's tight.

Re: A couple of new originals

Thanks for all the kind words......I play the guitar and bass on the songs. For the drums I use loops from Sony, The Loop Loft or Discrete Drums.

For Strut I used a few of the Siggi Baldurson loops from Sony and Weird I used bunch of Terrence Higgins Loops. I find loops to be very cool - you get to "play" with all these top drummers (definite +1 for the digital age)

That was killer! Your playing is very lyrical, reminds me of old Richie Kotzen, and I mean that as high praise.

Nice crunch and sustain. The drums are loops? How did you record the bass and guitar?

Re: A couple of new originals

Thanks again....for recording the bass I just go directly into my Boss BR1200 and then use one of their bass amp simulators. For guitar, I used my old '85 Kramer and my G&L Legacy for the two tracks, and just use an SM57 to mic my Tone King Metropolitan. Strangely on the 2nd solo on Strut, I was goofing around one night, playing directly into the Boss with an amp sim, just to get some ideas. The sound was pretty screechy but I changed to my neck pickup and it was okay. When I listened back to the solo I thought it was all right and kept it.

Just to give SD some props - in my Kramer I used the Prails and in my G&L I use the Vintage Hot Stacks.
