A family member pic and some P90 questions

Hey Bros.
First of all meet one of the ladys of the house:

A Lag Roxanne.
Now for the specs:
Body: Mahogany
Neck: Hard rock maple
Fretboard: Rosewood
Electronics: 2 Lag Custom humbuckers, 2 volumes with a push/pull knob for spliting the pickups and 1 tone knob

I really love this guitar but these pickups tend to be a bit muddy so I allways have to mess with the EQ and be very careful with my attack when I fingerpick.
The other day it hit me, I really love P90s and at the moment I don't have a P90 equiped guitar, so I thought when not convert the humbucker routing to P90 pickups? It would solve the muddiness and give me a P90 guitar!

What do you guys think?
Am I missing anything? Any of you did it? Do you recomend it?
School me on this. If anyone has a tutorial or some pics that would be awesome!
And another thing, what do you guys think of SDs Vintage P90s? Any others brands I should check?

Thank you very much.
Any comments on the guitar are welcome of course.

Re: A family member pic and some P90 questions

Humbuckers are fatter than p-90s so you will have a big gap (p-90s may be wider in the other direction, I can't remember). SD makes bucker sized p-90s called Phat Cats. I haven't tried them so you might as well wait until someone who has chimes in.

Dang...You're right they're fatter...I checked the measures and forgot about that...
I tried the Phat Cats once in a friends guitar, but they didn't sound like P90s, they're great pickups but to me they sounded like something between a single coil and a p90, fatter than a single coil, but it lacked something when compared to a p90..might have been just my ears though..

Re: A family member pic and some P90 questions

I remember Skarekrough speaking highly of a pickup winder that makes bucker sized p-90s. I think they were vintage vibes, but you should probably get it from the source as opposed to hearsay.

I picked up a set of Vinatge Vibe P-90's in hum-size a few years ago.

I still kick myself viciously for selling them. I got them at a bargain of a price and they sounded phenomenal. Unfortunately I was in a "must buck hum" mode and wished I'd hung onto them.

Give Peter Bitloft at Vintage Vibe pickups a ring. He'll wind to order and makes sure to set you up with another set of magnets as well. his designs allow for an easy swap.

They're great pickups...and Peter's a great guy.
