A general thank you to the forums

Hi everybody. I've recently become interested in magnet swapping some pickups. Rather than asking the same questions everyone else has asked I decided to search around on the forums for experiences and advice that had already been given.

With some digging I found all the information I needed and successfully swapped a ceramic magnet into my seven string JB, making myself a nice JB-7+ (or Distortion Lite, if you prefer). Everything went perfectly, and I also ended up with a seven string Custom 5 because I swapped the alnico 5 from the JB into the Custom where the ceramic came from.

I'm really digging the JB-7+, and the Custom 5 is now for sale. I just wanted to thank the forum in general for providing so much useful information on this topic.

So thanks everybody! :)

Glad everything worked out for you. This is a great forum, I'm a bit surprised a more experienced poster didn't give a reply yet, especially since you used the search.

Welcome aboard.

I'm one of the big proponents of mag swapping, which is something I learned on this forum a few years ago. Totally changed my ideas about PU's. There's a lot of good info discussed here. So many easy things you can do yourself. Stick around.

+ 1.

Most Duncan models take mag swaps gracefully. This helps A LOT REALLY. ;)

HTH,

I would be lost without mag swaps. The most useful info for sound/tone developement.

Yay! Win- win.
Mom was right, this IS a great forum.

Ive got to get into the mag swap zen cult so i know to be unphased with the warmth and attack of a disoriented bipolar screaming demon.

+1. If you don't wind PU's, and only a precious few do, then you rely on the wonderful world of magnets to get the EQ's you want. You become empowered to create 'new' PU's and take control of your tone. It's a great feeling.

What excites me is that we have a supplier that carries 10 kinds of alnico magnets, and each one gives a HB or P-90 a different sound; some changes are drastic, some subtle. You can craft and shape what you want, to fit your style, your guitar, and your amp.

Welcome to our world.
