A jam from my band

When having band practises we always hang a computer mic to the ceiling plugged into a minidisc to record everything we play that evening. Record quality isn't the greatest but not terrible either.

Lately we have been writing a lot of new stuff and we do a lot of jams to get a song moving, get new ideas and to have some fun in general. Most of the time we just take a chord progression and see where we go.
This is one of those jams. It starts out a little sloppy with bad cleans but when the distortion kicks in it gets a lot better IMHO. I'm the first one to stomp on my box, I use an Ibanez RG with a '59(fitted with 2 ceramics on the bottomplate) and a JB. The other guitar player uses a Jackson concept soloist with stock pickups (which doesn't sound to bad for stock pickups I must say) he plays the first solo in the middle part and I do the little outtro solo. The amps are peavey bandids and we use Boss distortions.

Last time I posted stuff from my band it really sucked, I can't even listen to it anymore. I like this one, it's a bit repetetive but it has a nice build up to it.

the beginning is a bit boring......but its kinda cool when it gets heavy. not my style though

Re: A jam from my band

Pretty cool. You guys have a classic feel and then a heavy feel. I think it's a good idea to jam away and record yourselves like this. You can go back and see what you like, or don't like. It sounds like you all know what you are doing :)
Rock and roll :D

Re: A jam from my band

Thanks guys.
Yup beginning's a bit tame but we like contrast in music.
The recording comes in very handy when writing new songs and it's fun to listen back to these jams. It helps to develop things faster and experiment.
I still have 3 minidiscs full of recordings I have to listen to so I might find some more stuff worth posting.
