a little zeppelin for ya

super rad stuff

Skaforlifeologist
i intended to record something i'd been workin' on for a while, but started playing "ten years gone." i liked the clean tone i was getting so much that i just started recording that. i made a short clip out of it with three guitar parts, all my mockingbird, my pedal board, vox ad15vt, and my crappy sm58-modeled karaoke mic;)

the main tone is the vox ac30tb model with a touch of reverb. the clean sound is the PGb in the neck with an a4 magnet split to the slug. distorted tone is the phat cat in the bridge with an a8/a2 combo with the mxr classic distortion. the wierd quacky tone is both pickups on out of phase with a wah(modded gcb-95) cocked foreward and a boss CE-3 chorus. tell me whatcha think of the tones, i think they're not half bad for how cheap a majority of the gear is!

listen to the track "short clip"(because myspace gets all butt-hurt if you don't post your own music;)) here:
dinosaurs by night myspace.

Tone's not bad, although a bit bassy.
Cool wee version, I love that riff, one of Pagey's best.

Re: a little zeppelin for ya

it is bassy, but i didn't record any bass part;)

seriously though, it's just my playing. i've got the bass turned down just barely under half but my playing always comes through as pretty thick.

Re: a little zeppelin for ya

Sounded like you were using the neck pickup with the tone rolled back, although you say it was the bridge.
Dunno, just for me I'd have turned the bass down even more and the treble up.

which part are you talking about? i didn't roll the tone back for any part. the clean tone is the neck, but split. the distorted tone is two sounds, the main "clean" tone played harder with a phase 90 and a distorted bridge tone.

Re: a little zeppelin for ya

That's pretty good, it's a nice "rock" clean tone.

I'll have to consider that a4 PGb as a neck pickup option...

I want a white SG for some heavier stuff/something to really whale on and that might fit the bill. or maybe a blue burst epi LP... can't decide. oh well I'm broke!

The distorted part. It doesn't sound like a bridge pickup.
Hey, I'm not criticizing, that's your tone, I just like a bit more treble or "Presence" if you will (see what I did there, eh, ha ha ha!)

Yeah I know it's the wrong album. :14:

hehe, presence:)

i know what you're talking about now. i i actually did turn the tone knob down a bit on the distortion pedal to keep it from sounding too "modern". which is odd because it's the classic distortion! it made it kinda 80s sounding with the tone turned up higher though, not as round as i wanted it.
