A little ZZ inspired jam...Les Paul into a Tweed Deluxe

Here's my Oxblood '54 RI, Timbuckers, into a Clark Beaufort tweed Deluxe clone. I used a Weber Mini-MASS on the amp so I could CRANK it. I jumpered the channels, the bright volume was set around 11, the normal volume around 10. The MASS dropped the overall level to loud TV volume, didn't even disturb the wife when I recorded :D

The Beaufort had NOS tubes all around and a Celestion Blue speaker. Eventually sold this amp...don't ask me why?!?!

Reverb and delay added in the mix. All other sounds came straight from the guitar->cord->amp :laugh2:

Experimental and professional, bud!

Great tone! Great playing!

I like the distant feel of the sound. It feels like its out there. I think u got some reverb on the rhythm guitar right?

WHat are using to record. (Multi track, protools... ?)

Re: A little ZZ inspired jam...Les Paul into a Tweed Deluxe

Thanks guys! A Les Paul through a cranked tweed Deluxe is a beautiful thing :D

Frantic Rock, I use a pretty simple recording setup. Mic the amp with an old audio-technica mic I bought about 12 years ago for $39 new. This recording I used my J-Station as a mic preamp. I set the J to "no modeling" setting and just used it to boost the mic signal, into the line-in on the sound card. The card is an old Ensoniq AudioPCI, before Creative bought them out. It's about equivalent to a SoundBlaster 64 PCI. I just recently got a Behringer UB802 mixer that I've been using for recording. Still working on getting a good sound with that. The J actually sounds a little warmer than the Behringer mixer!

Software is n-Track Studio, best $39 I ever spent on recording gear! I use a set of free plug-ins called Blueline for reverb and the n-Track-supplied delay plugin.

That's it :D

I liked it but that delay did some type of phase effect to the tone that I did not care for. Kind of like a flange.

Maybe it is my laptop speakers though :)

Good clip in any event!

Thanks!

scottl, I also used a plugin that gives the track a little stereo spread. You might be hearing that. It sort of delays one side and messes with the phase a bit to give you a double-tracked sound.

That was inspiring! Loved the tone and the playing! Now go ahead and smack yourself for getting rid of that amp..... :smack:
