A Peavey Project

New member here - thinking of installing full set of single coil pearly gates in a Peavey Predator. Took the predator apart and found it will need shielding. Also found the tone cap was never soldered on either tone pots. Peavey used 3 500K pots with the 3 single coil pickups on this model ???!! There is also a grounding wire coming out of the body cavity that is grounding the tone pots - that seems viable. Before I start experimenting on this predator (which is the monster I aim to tame) anyone have any advice or experience with Peavey guitar wiring. I plan on using 3 new 500K pots - any other advice will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Push-pull pots could prove handy for pickup mode switching or enabling the neck + bridge combination. If the stock selector switch is an eight contacts in line PCB type, upgrade it.

I will look into the push-pull pot idea - I think I've seen some wiring diagrams at Stewart Mac's web site for push -pull application. (or maybe in their book that I have on "Guitar Player Repair Guide.") It does have a stock in-line 8 contact selector switch but I do not know what you mean by PCB. Thanks for the advice Funkfingers !
