A question about a vintage rectifier tube

I have the intention of building my own vintage tube amp. As a good simple start I have choosen the 53' Fender Champ, a tone monster. I have some knowledge about this type of devices since I have studied physisc and I even have build a very simple amplifier in during my studies.

But my questions is, the tube rectifier stage has been designed to operate with a 120 Volts, 60hz current, the one you have in the US. If I build this amp following the vintage specs and I plug to the Spain wall AC (220 Volts, 50Hz) I guess nothing good it is going to happen...

Can anyboy confirm this? I you do so... Do you have any solution?

Re: A question about a vintage rectifier tube

I suppose you'll either have to use a different transformer in the power supply or get a seperate step down transformer to convert european wall juice to 120v. It seems to me that many overseas guys use one to run U.S. gear.

Right...

You can check the schemat here:

There is a 5Y3 rectifier tube. I know is possible to redesing this part of the circuit to adapt it to the Spanish system. But I don't have a clue of how to do it...

I guess you have to be a expert to do this.

Another posibility is to build a solid state rectifier adapted to our current system... Or, after all, I can allways use the power adaptor.
