A question about the Lil 59.

So I've started my first "build" (a tele) and I picked up a used lil 59 (came in a parts guitar) for a stupidly low price.

I like the pickup fairly well and noticed that it did not match the description of the strat model that some of my forum bros have tried.

It defied conventional thought. It was punchy and growling. Mean, even...and hot a Hell.

So I go onto the new website and find my way around before making an interesting observation:

The strat lil59 is in the 11-12k range while the Tele model is listed at 17.7k. Hot damn, right?

So my question is pretty simple: is this listing accurate or us it an erroneous error? If it is accurate, why is the Tele veraion soooo much hotter than the strat? (Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I like it)

Bonus points if you can tell me why they don't make a Lil Screamin Demon for tele...beside the fact that Lynch isn't cool enough to rock a telecaster.

I can't tell you the why about the Lil 59–I've only used one and I assume it was a Strat version...very nice sounding pickup. I also can't tell you about the Lil Screamin Demon either BUT I will say that I personally prefer the Lil Screamin Demon over the regular Screamin Demon. Just responds to my playing better. And as a side note, I love the JB Jr. as well.

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

You'll know if you ever get a "for Tele" version - it'll have a huge baseplate that looks like home plate on a baseball field.

No idea as to why the Lil59 for Tele is a Distortion-class model. Maybe as compensation for Tele players being gimped by such an ugly guitar?

Then again, maybe the site info is not correct and that's the JB Jr info, and you have one of those?

What's the sticker on the bottom say? 1B should be 59, but I'm not sure if that goes for the Jrs.

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

The construction of the pickups makes a difference in the outputs. And that Tele version is awesome! BTW, the Custom shop can certainly make a Lil' Screamin' Demon for Tele.

TELECASTERS ARE BEAUTIFUL!

in all seriousness, it is a lil 59 and it is a freaking scorcher, dude. And when split it actually sounds like a hot tele bridge without the twang.

I'm at a loss.

Oh, I'm sure that MJ would knock it out of the park...but that's quite the premium to "see if I like it".

(I'm sure I'd like it.)

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

Hey OP, since you've got one could you maybe measure the DC resistance on it?

I've got a Tele and I'm considering a Lil 59 for the bridge but the listed DC resistance compared to the Strat and standard humbucker model has me thinking twice. The magnet is also a ceramic which doesn't seem very "59" to me.

Anyone know why the Tele bridge HB's and stacks are mostly Ceramic?

My favorite Duncan is a Alnico II Pro humbucker in the bridge. What could be the most comparable pickup I could fit in a Tele bridge pickup route?

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

Wow. On paper that looks really hot.

I've read around and watched some comparison videos that make it seem like the numbers may not be 100% indicative of the behavior of the actual pickup in context. Still I'm a little baffled at the notion of a 17-19k ceramic "59". It may be something I just have to find out the hard way, seeing as Duncan's Tele bridge sized humbucker offerings are pretty limited unless I'm missing something. Custom Shop excluded.

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

the ceramic mags they used in the lil series pups is pretty small and alnico magnets that size arent very stable. im guessing they use at least #44 wire maybe smaller for that pup

Re: A question about the Lil 59.

That makes sense. I also considered that since the pickup is designed as a drop-in for a Tele bridge it's probably taking 250k pots into consideration as well.
