A question for the acoustic players

I'm thinking about having a pickup installed in my Martin and buying a nice amp. I'm just curious as to what people here have used and liked. I'm sort of leaning towards the L.R. Baggs M1A active soundhole pickup and an Ultrasound amp.

Re: A question for the acoustic players

Welcome to the forum! My friend & I both have M1As in our acoustics which we frequently play at church, they're great. Certainly a different tone than you get from piezos, which I've used, as well. They are a simple & very effective way to electrify your acoustic, plus they can be easily removed if you want to revert back to original. I recommend them w/o hesitation.

Thanks lemonman. Yeah...I like the idea of the soundhole pickup because it doesn't require any work on the bridge. I want to leave the bridge alone.

Ckeck out the K&k mini, I had it in a d15 excellent passive pickup, and once installed you would never know it is there...

Re: A question for the acoustic players

I have a Duncan SA-1 Acoustic Tube and feed that through an LR Baggs Para Acoustic Preamp then into the PA and I get an extremely natural tone. The SA-1 has really low output, so you will have to pair it with an active DI or Preamp to get decent volume. I do want to change the pickup to an end pin mount from the normal female jack plug, but other than that, I couldn't be happier with this setup!

Re: A question for the acoustic players

I've got a Sunrise that I like OK. Nothing sounds as good as a mike, though.
