A question for you les paul fanatics.

Hey I have been wondering about something on my gibby les paul classic. I've noticed that it doesn't have those dime sized discs that are mounted to the body that hold the screws that hold the bridge up, it just has the screws right into the wood. My guitar is the only one I've ever played that doesn't have them.
Here's a pic of guitar I found on the net that shows what I'm talking about, this one has them:

They are mounted on the body holding the bridge screws...if you can see them.

Now heres a pic of THE famous Pearly Gates naked:

notice that she doesnt have those little discs holding the screws(just like mine) :)
I was just curious about this and was wondering if anyone knew why gibson does this and what was the reason? Thanks

OFF TOPIC:

ledzepp - Your avatar pic is beyond weak. Do you think you're making a statement or something?

He can use whatever avatar he wants. Free country. Just shouldn't expect help from people who would be offended by it, that's all. I don't like it either, but still.

Fair enough. A link to a site with pertinent information would make more a more appealing case, but some people prefer childish mockery.

The original Les Pauls from the 50s do not have those metal bridge studs either. Currently only Les Paul Classics or LPs from the Historic line have the bridge directly mounted into the tops.

alright thanks man!

and dude the avatar is just a joke! I thought it was funny as I don't like Moore too much, although I think he's really funny.

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

No, it's alright. I don't think it's fair to Michael Moore or people who support him and it definitely doesn't make any sort of argument, but if it's just there for laughs, I'm not going to get bent out of shape.

Thank you for offering to change it. Sorry if it seemed like I jumped you... that wasn't what I was going for.

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

There are two types of bridges from Gibson, the ABR-1 and the Nashville Tune-o-matic. The re-issues have the ABR-1, the production LPs have the later Nashville. With your bridge the adjustment screws should face the bridge and on the Nashvilles they should face the stop bar.

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

also off topic, wow your 14 and have a gibsomn classic?!?! damn your one lucky kid!!

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

ya worked at a grocery store for 4 months! still work there too, thats how I get my cash for gear

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

Not sure....my tech has had my 2003 LP Standard a few times and said it has the ABR-1 bridge. We compared to his '89 LP Standard and it has the Nashville bridge. Trade that Classic for a Standard! :)

NO!!! hahaha. It would be a waste of time anyways because standards and classics are structuraly the same besides the inlays and the sometimes over dramatic flametop which honestly has never done anything for me :wall:

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

thats very true if your talking about stock. Classics sound ****ty compared to their potential with new pups. That goes for standards as well :22:
but standards sounding more like les pauls than classics is more of a psychological thing because of the name and reputation. Besides my classic is from the 90's back when they made them good, no glued multi piece body here :headbang:

Re: A question for you les paul fanatics.

actually, come to think of it I bet a 59 custom shop historic would come by and school my classic AND your standard on how a les paul should sound :laugh2:
