A question on technique and TONE.

Hi guys! I just wanted to ask you guys if you know how to do this guitar trick: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6806307753083159254&q=Coheed

They also do another trick where he's doing like hammer-on's and pull-off's and he slides his palm down the neck and it makes cool noises (similiar to ice falling and breaking, aka Harmonics)

Another question:

Here's the site where you guys can hear clips of the tone I'm seeking: http://www.soundclick.com/xero09

I was thinking of either the SD Custom or the Distortion. The pickups will be placed in a Mahogany LP, w/ 3/4 maple top & Ebony Neck.

Heres a video of me doing it.. very first lick in the vid.

Thats an old Van Halen trick. I do it a little different.. Its descending pull-offs on the G String. I do a 4 fret 2nd to 5th fret stretch ith my pinky and index finger when I do it. Its real easy. The trick is not to fret the notes with your left hand and just lightly bring your right hand down the neck just enough to let the harmonics slip out..

You know, I meant to ask you about that bit when you first posted the link. 'Cept I probably would have referred to it as "that John Sykes thing". :)

Re: A question on technique and TONE.

I never heard Sykes do it ever.. But EVH did it a least once on every Van Halen record.

That's cool, I'm going to try it right now. As for the humbucker, which one do you guys think I can stick in my singlecut so it can have a tone similiar to the ones from the clips?
