A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

Now I have 2 pickups... Seymour Duncan ssl5 (non-rwrp) + Fender CS strat 69 (non-rwrp)  Is it true that rwrp in Fender = non-rwrp in Seymour Duncan and vice versa?  Why do they make repulsion when placed face to face? Did I receive a counterfeit ssl5 ? Please help! Thanks in advance. Note*: I ordered it from Amazon via myguitarsupply

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

So you are trying to make a Gilmour? face to to face is not right it would be back to face to both be facing the same direction. A little dollar compass would save you a lot of hassle.

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

Ok just to clarify Fender CS-69 do not come RWRP at all. Im pretty sure they are all 3 the same pickup, they just get position designations. A Duncan SSL-5 will work with it reversing the white and black wires. Black hot white ground.

No. When you test pickups polarity you should put them face to face.. I'm sure! However, all that worries me is that I think I've received a counterfeit ssl5

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

Let me see your SSL-5

If you have two pickups and they are both north facing if you put them face to face they will repel man think about it. Im not going to debate this with you but if the face of one pickup is north and the face of the other is north they will repel. if niether is RWRP the will not attract ok?

What do you mean? I mess with strat pickups all the time
usually they are N S N or S N S he has a CS 69 middle they are N N N no RWRP

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

To Mix a Duncan with a Fender you reverse the positive and Negative unless its an Antiquity which is reverse polarity all the way around S N S instead of N S N

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

OK well sorry then I wont say it that way you know what Im saying though if he has two north facing pickups the south is on the back side so they go front to back to attract.

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

I just know alot about strats I build them alot especially pickguards. I know exactly what he is trying to do build a Gilmour

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

Anyway yes polarity is the N and S of it all and phase is one pickup in relation to another's polarity

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

OK cool I got it no worries maybe Im not saying it right then thats cool. I dont mix Fender and Duncans anyway I buy all Duncans and wire them with a Bridge tone jumper everytime so I wont have to deal with it. Thank you for making it clear. Have a good one friend :)

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

No worries... not trying to be a hard ass but if the terminology gets buggered up it gets confusing fast.

At the end of it the OP's pickup is not counterfeit based on the information he presented alone.

Re: A question regarding fender & Seymour Duncan polarity.

True enough I thought it sounded right too. I didnt take any offense.
