A question regarding hybrid pickups

Ok this is directed to those of you with urges to make hybrid pickups. Theoretically considering when a humbucker is taken apart into the 2 separate coils they are both usuable single coil pickups right? So in theory would it be possible to take 2 traditional strat single coil pickups (such as the duncan quarter pounder for what I have in mind...) And put them together as you would a humbucker.

correct me if i'm wrong I know next to nothing about this, i'm just pondering the possibilities of some superbucker haha

Unfortunately no, as the magnets are separate.

This will still work, though... essentially one needs flipped magnets, then they need to be wired in series, then you would have a "true" humbucker spread out over 2 coils ;)

..a la the Stag Mag. But it doesn't really sound like a humbucker, due to slugs instead of magnets and the large bar magnet in the hum compared to the small magnets in the S/C.
