I bought a reverse wound bridge pickup (Fralin SP43) for my G&L back in the day. A friend wants to buy it, but is this at all possible to install in his (presumably) normally configured Strat? Wouldn't it be out of phase in the notch position middle/bridge? Or is there a possible workaround here?

If it's out of phase with the middle or neck pickup just reverse the black and white wires of the SP43 to put it in phase.

You may get humcancelling or not when it's combined with the middle pickup.

To get humcancelling, the two would have to be reverse polarity in terms of the magnets in each pickup.

You can find out that by holding the the polepieces of the new SP43 against the polepieces of the middle pickup. If they attract you should get humcancelling when the two pickups are combined.

Great bridge pickup - the Fralin SP43.

Got one in one of my Strats along with a pair of Antiquity Surfers.

They're all in phase with each other and the polarity of all three matches.

It's one of my very favorite pickup combinations.

Thanks a lot, Lew! :) Yeah, the SP43 is really great, makes the G&L roar a bit. Unfortunately I have no use for it now, so it should go to some better use.. I have found that I am not a Strat guy at heart.. :)
