A Tale of Two Cabs - Advice/expertise needed!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So I have found two 4x12 cabs that are of HIGH interest to me. Both already on wheels.

* The first is a current-ish Marshall 1960A going for $525. Being sold along with a 1960B and a JCM900 Head. Nothing interesting there. I can test the cab before purchase, but not worried.

* The second is a Mesa(?) can also in the $550 range. Now, I am no expert in Mesa cabs. This looks a little older maybe, don't ask me what old means. Could just be well travelled. But, my first question is:

Is this actually a Mesa Cab? If so, what is it. I find the back suspiciously vague.

That's not a Mesa cab. That's a Line 6 Spider Valve cab someone slapped a Mesa logo on. It's not a bad cab, but it's not a Mesa. It has Chinese V30's and I don't think it's finger-jointed in the corners. The Tolex also doesn't look like it'd take a beating like the Mesa stuff does.

Yeah - second or third person I heard that from. I'm not even gonna crack the back to verify.

Marshall all the way!

I agree that's not a mesa cabinet.... The ones you usually find with that screen type read Mesa boogie on the front.
The jackplate almost always says mesa on it

I was going to say that mesa cab looks a lot like a Marshall cabinet.... Wheels and angles look right, but the jackplate is surely not Marshall so.... Hard to tell.

But using a Google lens search, that jackplate is definitely a spider

Someone, somewhere down the line, added the logo and sold it to an unsuspecting person. I wonder if the music store bought it for "Mesa" pricing. Nevertheless, someone has to take the logo off that cab and take the hit on its resale value. Hopefully, the store does the right thing when you tell them it is not a Mesa.

Yeah - pawn shop.

I'll drop in and tell them next time I'm nearby.
